The Metro Nashville Police Department has identified a suspect in connection to the murder of a local community organizer.
Robert Smith, 27, is wanted in the death of Rasheed Walker on Saturday in North Nashville, the department announced on its Twitter account Tuesday afternoon.
MNPD said Smith is believed to be driving a 2012 black Nissan Maxima with TN license plate number 4V6-1Y3.
Walker, also known as 'Jose Hustle,' 31, was shot outside the Wireless Z store in North Nashville at 4:50 p.m. on Saturday and later pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Medical Center, FOX 17 News reports.
Walker was the founder of HUSTLEstrong Foundation, a nonprofit started in 2015 "to back youth athletic teams to offset the cost of participation fees, providing access to positive outlets of engagement for today's youth," according to it's website.
Walker also founded the Nashville Pro-Am Basketball League, which connects area youth with college and professional basketball players, according to the league's website. He also worked as a peer tutor and mentor with the Lovelife Foundation, according to his LinkedIn account.
On Sunday, GRAMMY winner Chance The Rapper honored the local community organizer, sending his condolences to the family of Walker, who he said he recently named his viral concert after.
Sending love and gratitude to the family of Jose Hustle 🕊 He reached out to me recently when I named my virtual concert after him. Really wish I got the chance to work with him. He told me about an organization in Memphis he had called Hustle Strong. Still want to help if I can
