The community gathered together over the weekend to remember the life of Rasheed Walker who was killed in a shooting last week. A vigil was held at Hartman Park Sunday to remember the beloved 31-year-old Metro Schools teacher's aide.

Walker worked as a teacher's aide helping special education students at Cora Howe School for 10 years in addition to running a basketball league in the community. According to his brother Omar Walker, he wanted the world to be a better place.

"He helped so many people in the community. He would give you anything, the shirt off his back," said Benny Walker, Rasheed Walker's older brother. "This really hurt us, we're devastated."

As the vigil concluded, Walker's family and friends pledged to continue his legacy of positivity, peace, and love.

"Makes me feel good, especially being his father, to know he did everything he did for the community and to help young kids," said Benny Walker, Rasheed Walker's father.

Walker died after being shot last weekend outside of Wireless Z on Dr. D.B. Todd Junior Boulevard. Police are still searching for Robert Smith, the suspect in the shooting. They encourage anyone with information regarding Walker's death to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
