Greta Van Fleet are known for summoning the rock gods of yore in their music, and during a performance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Tuesday night (December 8) they paid homage to music programs of the '70s. The rockers played "My Way, Soon" from a remote, tier stage filmed with a grainy filter. Each band member wore a white jumpsuit, while frontman Josh Kiszka and bassist Sam Kiszka strutted around the stage barefoot.

"My Way, Soon" is the lead single off Greta Van Fleet's recently announced sophomore album The Battle at Garden's Gate. The band also shared its second single, "Age of Machine," last week.

"It’s very dynamic, lyrically speaking," Josh said about the album in a statement. "And that’s the human experience. It’s much more than pain or fear; it’s also beauty. People need people, and love is important. There was a lot of self-evolution happening during the writing of this album that was prompted by experiences I had, experiences we all had, so a lot of contemplation occurred.”

“It’s reflecting a lot of the world that we’ve seen, and I think that it’s reflecting a lot of personal truth," guitarist Jake Kiszka added. "What Josh does very well with the lyrics is telling ancient tales with a contemporary application.”

“I suppose that everything has changed except what got us here in the first place,” bassist Sam Kiszka said. “Everything – our perception of the world, perception of life itself, what it means to be an artist, what it means to be part of a beautiful, gorgeous society. We’ve gained a larger understanding of why we’re all here.”

The Battle at Garden's Gate is slated for an April 16, 2021 release via Republic Records and can be pre-ordered here.
