Alan Jackson and his wife, Denise, are celebrating their 41st anniversary on Tuesday.
The high school sweethearts wed on December 15, 1979 at the Newnan Baptist Church in their hometown, Newnan, Georgia.
On Tuesday, Jackson's official social media accounts shared a photo of the couple credited to Kristyn Hogan celebrating their 41st anniversary with the caption: "Let’s all wish these Lovebirds a Happy 41st Anniversary!! #LivinOnLive."
The Jacksons moved to Nashville six years into their marriage when Alan decided to "chase that neon rainbow and live the honky tonk dream" in pursuit of a career in country music. Denise, whose last name was Jackson prior to their marriage, was instrumental in her husband's career, initially telling country music legend Glen Campbell about him while working as a flight attendant, leading Campbell to take interest in Jackson and helping him land a record deal with Arista Records.
The couple went on to have three daughters, Mattie, Ali, and Dani, but had a brief separation in 1998, before reconciling after four months and renewing their wedding vows on their anniversary later that year.
"We learned that if a relationship's going to be good, you have to make it a priority," Denise Jackson told PEOPLE Magazine in 2008. "Even if it's just getting up 30 minutes before the children do in the morning, having our coffee and being together uninterrupted. Or sitting on the porch in the afternoon for 10 minutes to catch up on our day."
Alan Jackson told The Boot that he is focused on keeping his marriage healthy and strong, admitting that it takes effort all the time.
“I don’t care if it’s somebody that seems compatible or your soul mate," Jackson said. "You have to work at it all the time. I always find that most times you treat strangers nicer than you do somebody that’s close to you, and if you learn to do that, that makes a big difference.”
