A free COVID-19 testing site will be opening at the Sacramento International Airport, according to CBS13.

The Sacramento Community Testing site is run by CityHealth Urgent Care. It is located in the former taxi waiting parking lot, near the AM/PM gas station.

Testing began on Wednesday, December 16 at 8:30 A.M. According to the city, the testing site is available for the general public and not just airport employees and travelers.

The site is operational daily from 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Testing is by appointment only, which can be scheduled online.

Sacramento County saw another 829 positive COVID-19 cases yesterday (December 15) according to numbers provided by Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center and county health departments in Northern California.

There were 51,052 confirmed cases as of Tuesday, December 15 in Sacramento County and 1,644,979 cases across California.

Sacramento County is heading into its first full week under a regional stay-at-home order, put in place by Governor Gavin Newsom. The Greater Sacramento Region joined other California regions under lockdown on December 10.

Under the new California regulations, stay-at-home orders are put into effect when a region drops below 15% of ICU capacity.

The San Joaquin Valley and Southern California dropped below 15% triggering stay-at-home orders just days after Newsom announced the new regulations.

The Bay Area voluntarily enforced the order before their ICU capacity reached the threshold.
