It’s quite the “major award” to earn the No. 1 spot as the most popular Christmas movie in your state.
But for Ohioans, the answer might not be what you think.
Comparitech, a research and tech services comparison hub, analyzed the top favorite holiday movies using the IMDB’s most popular list and Google Trends, publishing findings Tuesday (December 15).
Although A Christmas Story was filmed in Cleveland — and inspires themed races and trips to the Christmas Story house around the holidays — the 1983 movie didn’t snag the top spot.
Instead, Ohio’s favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
Comparitech’s analysis showed that favorite films ranged from 1940s classics to modern takes released just last year. A few movies have even sparked spirited debates over whether or not they count as Christmas movies at all.
