It seems as though 2020 just keeps on rolling. On Tuesday (December 22), it hit Nashville comedy-lovers hard when a dump truck crashed into Music City's beloved Zanies Comedy Club and brought performances to a halt. Thankfully, no one was injured; unless you count the mural of comedian Nate Bargatze's face on the building. He joked that the driver apparently didn't like his jokes Monday night.
"This is the new way for Zanies to fit the COVID standards is to have outside seating, so I think they got it now," said Bargatze. "I think they could have just opened the door. I honestly thought my face was the safest of being hit ... you have these barriers [it's] like there's no way [I'll] ever be hit."
The incident happened Tuesday morning when a driver forgot to put on the emergency break for the dump truck, said Zanies co-owner Andrew Dorfman. The truck then rolled down the street before crashing into the iconic club. Shows on Tuesday were canceled to allow teams to assess any structural damage.
Comedian FunnyMaine was scheduled to perform at the club Tuesday night, but his set was postponed until January.

"It's been an amazingly hard year for everybody, and when times are good people like to laugh, and when times are bad people really need to laugh, and right now we're not going to be able to give the laughter for a little bit," said Dorfman.
