The bakery made famous by the TLC show Cake Boss closed its Dallas location.

Carlo's Bake Shop was located at Preston Center, and was one of handful of branch locations of Buddy Valastro's famous New Jersey-based bakery.

The Dallas location opened in 2016 to much fanfare, including thousands of Cake Boss fans who attended the grand opening to meet Valastro. Meanwhile it closed on December 7 without much fuss or public announcement.

It was the first Texas location, too, according to the Dallas Morning News. There was another location in Frisco, but it closed in February 2020. The locations in San Antonio and McAllen are still open.

Like the original Carlo's Bake Shop featured in the TLC show, the Dallas location made over-the-top custom cakes and other desserts, like cannolis and cookies.

The company that owns the bake shops decided to close the Dallas store to focus more on e-commerce.

“We found we could reach a broader audience in Texas, without opening 50 stores,” chief marketing officer Michael Ciullo told the newspaper.

Ciullo said the company plans on opening 100 "cake ATMs" across the country.
