List: 5 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebrations Happening Across Arizona

Even in the midst of the ongoing global pandemic, residents will continue celebrating the life and honoring the late Martin Luther King Jr.

The events are taking place to honor the legacy of King as well as celebrate multiculturalism and diversity.

Many of the events will be virtual this year due to the virus.

Here are five MLK Day events happening across the Valley:

Surprise

The City of Surprise will be holding a virtual celebration to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. It will be held on Saturday, January 16th at 9 a.m. You can watch the program on Surprise TV, Facebook, or Instagram.

Chandler

The City of Chandler is hosting the 26th Annual Multicultural Festival. It will a virtual event, and will have musical performances, henna demonstrations, and three cooking segments. The event will take place on Saturday, January 16th at 11 a.m. You can watch it on the City of Chandler Facebook page.

Mesa

The City of Mesa will be holding a virtual parade on Monday, January 18th at 11 a.m. For more information on how to view the parade, click here.

Paradise Valley

The City of Paradise Valley will be holding a virtual event planned for MLK Day, featuring speakers, music, and local students reading essays. It will take place on Monday, January 18th at 11 a.m. For more information on the event, click here. 

Harkins Theatres

Harkins Theatres is offering free screenings of the movie "Selma" at select theaters over the weekend. The tickets are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
