Demi Lovato delivered an unforgettable performance during the primetime inauguration special, Celebrating America, on Wednesday (January 20).
Hours after the inauguration of president Joe Biden and vice-president Kamala Harris, the 28-year-old singer sang Bill Withers' "Lovely Day" with the help of several first responders.
From Los Angeles, Demi belted out the uplifting track as nurses and doctors sang along as their faces appeared on the green screen behind her. Cameras also cut to shots of President Biden and first lady Dr. Biden, who were watching, and dancing along to, the "Commander In Chief" singer's performance while inside their new home: the White House.
Last week, Demi announced that she was asked to perform for the special event, tweeting, "I’m SO honored to announce that I will be joining @JoeBiden & @KamalaHarris for their special event, “Celebrating America. [...] I was left speechless when I was asked to perform!"
Ahead of her performance, Demi tweeted that "It is our time to unite, heal, and get to work."
