Sacramento's Casa Garden is shutting its doors for good after 46 years of business.

The popular restaurants located on 2760 Sutterville Road has been closed since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Monday, January 18, Casa Garden announced its permanent closure, according to FOX40.

Not only did the beloved spot serve great food and host many community gatherings, but they were also vital in helping the Sacramento Children's Home during their nearly five-decade run.

"Mostly being run by volunteers, I think over time, that became a bit of a challenge but certainly the strain of the pandemic has hit them pretty hard," said president and CEO of the Sacramento Children's Home Dr. David Baker.

Board members with the Los NiƱos Service League said Casa Garden raised more than $3 million for the Sacramento Children's Home.

Dr. Baker told FOX40 that not only did Casa Garden bring funds to the cause but they also brought awareness for supporting children and at-risk youth.

"You know every time you would go there you could have a really good conversation with the volunteers," said Baker. "Some of them that had volunteer had little badges with things that showed how many hours they had dedicated, and it was pretty impressive."

Even though Casa Garden is now closed, its legacy will live on thanks to a cookbook filled with recipes used at the restaurant. Proceeds from the cookbook will go to the Sacramento Children's Home.
