One of the best parts of Valentine’s Day is the candy.

That’s one thing that clearly resonates with people in Wisconsin.

Two of the Badger State’s major cities — Madison and Milwaukee — cracked the top 5 list of America’s sweetest cities.

Candy purchases ahead of Valentine’s Day played a role in boosting the two cities into the top 5, according to WMTV.

The Madison-based NBC affiliate reported Tuesday (February 9) that candy sales in Madison have skyrocketed by 79%.

Here’s the list of America’s top 10 sweetest cities, according to Coupons.com:

  1. Miami-Fort Lauderdale, FL
  2. El Paso, TX
  3. West Palm Beach-Fort Pierce, FL
  4. Milwaukee, WI
  5. Madison, WI
  6. Houston, TX
  7. Fort Myers-Naples, FL
  8. Tucson, AZ
  9. New York, NY
  10. San Antonio, TX

These are the 3 least sweet cities in America:

  1. Minot, ND

Despite the obvious sweet tooth of Wisconsinites, chocolate wasn’t the most-frequently-Googled Valentine’s Day gift in Wisconsin, according to a new report by CouponLawn.com.

Google Trends data show that instead, most people in Wisconsin are apparently hoping for a puppy.

Luckily, anyone looking for a last-minute date for the upcoming holiday could find some luck.

WalletHub researchers recently evaluated the best and worst states for singles, and Wisconsin came in at No. 4.

In a separate report ranking more than 180 of the best and worst cities for singles, Madison snagged the No. 1 spot and Milwaukee came in at No. 58.
