Another Valentine's Day left scrambling for last-minute chocolate and dinner reservations? We get it. But just because you've procrastinated a little doesn't mean you have to resort to picked over aisles at the store.

There are enough sights and affordable attractions in Sacramento to plan an unforgettable Valentine's Day. These memories will last longer than any last-minute gifts you can find.

Here are five last-minute Valentine's Day date ideas in the Sacramento area:

McKinley Rose Garden

With roses being a classic symbol of love, taking a walk through the McKinley Rose Garden at McKinley Park is a romantic and scenic way to celebrate Valentine's Day. The garden was even featured in a romantic scene in the critically acclaimed movie Lady Bird.

Old Sacramento Waterfront Wheel

Nothing screams romance like a cozy ride on a Ferris wheel. The 65' Ferris wheel located at the Old Sacramento Waterfront is a great way to get out on Valentine's Day. Plus tickets only cost $6 per ride. You can purchase tickets ahead of time here.

Old Sacramento Heart Installation

While you're around Old Sacramento, you can also check out the new heart installation. The heart shaped arch is covered in roses and overlooks the Sacramento River. It's the perfect photo op for you and a loved one. It's located at 1000 Front. St.

American River Trail Picnic

If your significant other is into outdoor activities and adventure, take them on one of the most popular walking and hiking trails in the Sacramento area. You can bike, hike, or walk through the paved path lined by oak trees. The park also allows for picnicking which would be a great way to end the date.

Sacramento Zoo

The Sacramento Zoo recently opened after being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While this is the most expensive date ideas on the list, it requires little planning and is a fun way to spend the day. Make sure to check out the zoo's COVID restrictions and admissions guidelines on their website.
