Keith Urban ventured into new territory with his latest song for the relaxation app Calm.
As part of his collaboration with the app, the country titan, 53, has released an hour-long song called “I Am Home" to help users calm their nerves and, ultimately, rest their eyes. Urban's new track was inspired by his own use of meditative music to help him unwind. He becomes the latest in a string of stars to offer sleep tracks for the app. Among his predecessors include Harry Styles, LeBron James, Laura Dern, Matthew McConaughey and Kelly Rowland.
"Sleep is so important as a singer," the singer said in a promotion video for the venture. "There was definitely a time when I wasn’t getting enough of it, but I was definitely paying the price for that and losing my voice a lot. I learned pretty quick. Fitting sleep into my life is important to me: mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally, health, everything about it is important."
When it came down to creating "I Am Home," Urban said that he utilized his gut instinct. "Without having to focus on guitar riffs, a hit chorus, or a three-minute time frame, I approached the song from a vibratory place – the key and tempo, speed of the chord changes – I just went with what I felt flowed and what I would want if I wanted to bring my energy down," he explained.
