A man in Englewood watched as a couple hopped into his truck to steal it. Before they could drive away, the owner jumped into the bed of the truck and rode with the perpetrators for about 10 miles, according to 9NEWS.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Ginger Delgado said the truck was first stolen around 5:15 A.M. on Thursday, February 25 at the Homewood Suites at 199 Inverness Dr.
The owner of the truck had left his vehicle running to warm it up when a man and woman got inside and stole it, according to Delgado.
A pursuit throughout Arapahoe County ensued, but Delgado said the snow kept the chase from exceeding 30 mph.
The pursuit stopped 10 miles away from where the truck was stolen. They ended up at a 7-Eleven near South Broadway and East Tufts Avenue in Englewood. Delgado said that's when the victim jumped out of the truck and the couple unsuccessfully attempted to steal another vehicle.
The two were arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of auto theft as well as kidnapping, according to Delgado.
The identities of the suspects have not yet been revealed since the investigation is still in progress, reports 9NEWS.
Law enforcement is cautioning residents against "puffing," or leaving a car running and unattended to warm it up.
Drivers caught "puffing" in Denver could receive a $60 fine for their first offense.
