Two women were arrested Thursday after abusing other passengers and crew members on an American Airlines flight that was diverted to Phoenix, reported ABC 15.

According to the airline, the women were verbally and physically abusing other passengers and crew members.

The flight was traveling from Dallas-Fort Worth to Los Angeles when it had to be diverted to Phoenix at around 5:15 p.m. because of the altercation.

When the flight landed in Phoenix, local law enforcement officials removed and arrested the two women. The two were later identified as 30-year-old Kelly Pichardo, and 29-year-old Leeza Rodriguez.

According to Phoenix police officers, the women were using racial slurs when a male passenger asked them to stop using foul language.

Pichardo allegedly spat at the man, who then began recording the women's actions.

According to officers, Rodrigues then hit the man's hand to make him stop recording them.

American Airlines officials stated, "Their behavior was disturbing and unacceptable, and they have been placed on our internal refuse list pending further investigation."

Rodrigues was booked on charges of disorderly conduct, and Pichardo was booked on charges of assault and disorderly conduct.

The flight continues to Los Angeles without any more problems.
