Separate sledding accidents in Ohio have left one teen girl severely injured and another dead.
The accidents happened on the same hill, at Hinckley Reservation in Medina County, according to NBC News.
First, Eirelyn Zuercher, 14, died of her injuries in an accident on the hill.
Within days, the family lost Eirelyn and her father, Jared Zuercher.
“On Saturday Eirelyn had a sledding accident and suffered a detrimental brain injury. When they arrived at Cleveland MetroHealth Jared experienced a massive heart attack that he did not survive,” reads a Go Fund Me campaign to help the family. “Eirelyn was able to give the gift of life to five people in her passing and now it's our time to give. In this time of grief, please consider contributing to this fund. Any amount is appreciated and will go directly to (Eirelyn’s family).”
The campaign has raised more than $13,000 of its $25,000 goal as of Monday morning (March 1).
After Eirelyn’s accident, Natalie Wilson, 17, suffered six broken ribs and spinal cord damage that left her partly paralyzed. Her dad, Jim Wilson, told NBC that the crash into a tree line happened as Natalie was “taking one last trip down the hill before going home.”
Though Natalie is “in good spirits” after surgery, she “has little to no feeling from the chest down. We were encouraged to hear that Natalie had tingling in her legs today and was able to move her toes according to doctors,” reads to a Go Fund Me campaign that was organized to help the family with the cost of medical expenses.
The Go Fund Me for Natalie has raised more than $22,000 of a $25,000 goal as of Monday morning.
