Oh, you got jokes? It's not every day that the Queen City gets a nationwide shoutout, but that's exactly what happened on Saturday night (February 27) when Charlotte was given a platform on one of the most famous comedy shows in American history, Saturday Night Live.

The jokes got started during the "Weekend Update" segment when longtime SNL cast member Kenan Thomspon came out dressed as former NFL tight end LaVar Ball, father of Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball. The fake Ball started his speech by giving love to the Queen City, according to WCNC.

"He's playing for the most storied franchise in all of basketball, the Charlotte Hornets," said Thompson as Ball. "Charlotte, North Carolina, the regional banking capital of the world, gateway to Gastonia..."

When "Weekend Update" host Michael Che asked Thompson's Ball about LeMelo being one of the front-runners for Rookie of the Year, Thompson said LaMelo basically has the competition in the bag.

"Oh, he's got all the awards locked up," the fake-Ball said. "Rookie of the year, locked up. MVP, locked up. Prettiest hog at the Mecklenburg County Fair, locked up."

Other notable moments include the fake-Ball claiming LeMelo will unite North and South Carolina into a "Super Carolina" while pushing his newest Big Baller Brand's item, the "CaraMelos" edible footwear.
