One county in Arizona is considered among the best in the nation in administering the COVID-19 vaccination, reported AZ Family.
Gila County has done so well with the distribution of the vaccine that it has moved into Phase 2 as of late last month, which includes giving the vaccine to the general population. Many other counties across the state are still working through Phase 1 of the vaccine distribution.
Anyone adult over the age of 18 that lives in Gila County is now eligible for the vaccine.
The Gila County Health and Emergency Management gave credit for the milestone to the county, Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center, and its health partners.
Most of the facilities in the county require an appointment, but according to officials, some are now accepting walk-ins. Officials suggest calling the facilities first to see if you need an appointment or not.
The Arizona Department of Health Service's Website states that 12,773 people in Gila County have already received at least the first dose of the vaccine. This number equates to about 23% of people in the county.
According to health officials, the county has only used 70% of the COVID-19 doses, which is among the lowest numbers in Arizona.
