The Denver Finance Committee is considering a proposal that would allow for marijuana delivery within city limits and nearby jurisdictions that allow delivery, reports to FOX31.

The proposal would also launch a program for businesses to set up cannabis lounges.

Marijuana delivery in Denver would initially only be allowed through third-party traponsporters. Only those who meet state equity requirements would be able to apply for a transporter license in the first six years.

Dispensaries would operate from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 A.M. under the proposal.

Aurora passed their proposal to allow for marijuana delivery in December 2020. However, no applications have been formally approved by the city yet, according to FOX31.

"Denver is currently comtemplating only allowing social equity transportres to deliver in Denver," Exec. Dir. Truman Bradley of the Marijuana Industry Group told FOX31. "So it would be, as it stands now, no dispensaries would be allowed to deliver their own product. That's a market departure from what Aurora is doing."

The proposal would also not allow marijuana drive-throughs. Although, the proposal's program for cannabis lounges would let some of them operate mobily on buses and shuttles.

If the proposal moves forward, it would then be taken to Denver City Council for a full vote.
