A mother in Utah that was found making a video call while driving in Eagle Mountain is now facing multiple charges after police saw her two young children unrestrained and drugs in the vehicle, reported KUTV 2 News.
A Utah County Sheriff's Office detective saw 19-year-old Gabriella Ann McKenzie "driving erratically" with a "young child unrestrained moving around the back seat of the car."
When the detective pulled McKenzie over on Tuesday, the smell of marijuana poured out of the vehicle.
A deputy arrived on the scene to help. Both the detective and the deputy got the children out of the car to search it.
According to police, McKenzie argued with them and told them that they couldn't search the car.
Police stated:
"As she reached in the back seat to remove her children the detective and deputy saw her take something out of a box next to one of the children and conceal it in her waistband. Concerned it might be a weapon, the deputy put handcuffs on her and saw a brown bag partially concealed in McKenzie's waistband. The bag contained a small amount of white powder that was later determined to be cocaine."
In addition to having her children, ages 2 and 8 months, unrestrained in the back seat, police say 19-year-old Gabriella McKenzie also had cocaine and marijuana in the car.https://t.co/ey85ksN8su
