Tragedy was narrowly avoided over the weekend when a car crashed into a Charlotte martial arts studio while a class was in session. On Saturday (March 6), students were in the middle of a lesson at Leadership Martial Arts when a car lost control and drove directly into the dojo. No injuries were reported.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said the suspect, whose name has not been released, drove "unlawfully, recklessly, and in total disregard for the public's safety" and lost control of their vehicle, WCNC reports.

In a post to the Leadership Martial Arts Facebook page, the studio detailed the damage and included photos of the car sitting in the middle of the room. A video of the crash was included in the comments of the post.

The studio said it will be closed until at least Wednesday due to the amount of damage, the total cost of which is not yet confirmed. The car significantly damaged the side wall of the building as it drove through into the viewing area and main mat. Fortunately, even though class was in session, there were no injuries to any students or staff.

Leadership Martial Arts thanked the quick response it received to help ensure safety and begin cleaning up.

"Thank you to everyone who jumped in so quickly to assist with clean up and getting the building secured," the post concluded.
