Tesla is being very secretive about its mega battery in Texas.
A Tesla subsidiary named Gambit Energy Storage LLC is currently building the gigantic battery in Angleton, which is 40 miles south of Houston. The battery will be connected to the Texas energy grid, Bloomberg reported.
Elon Musk's electric vehicle company wouldn't comment about its involvement in the battery project, but Tesla's logo appears in documents on the Angleton city website.
Little is known about what the battery will be used for, but Bloomberg estimates that the big battery will be able to power up 20,000 homes on a hot summer day.
News of the Tesla battery broke weeks after the Texas power grid nearly failed during a historic winter storm in mid-February. Millions of Texans were left in the dark for days after the grid overseen by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas couldn't generate enough energy to meet demand.
Musk is also in the middle of expanding his various businesses in Texas. Last week, the multibillionaire announced that he wants to build a city named Starbase near Brownsville.
