Although things might not be entirely back to normal yet, there are some silver linings on the horizon.

This summer, city officials said outdoor pools and playgrounds will be able to reopen after closing because of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to WKYC on Thursday (March 11).

“We’re going to open all 20 of our outdoor pools on June 12," City of Cleveland Director of Public Works Michael Cox announced. "There will be limitations on how many people we can get into the pools based on capacity levels.”

Earlier this month, Gov. Mike DeWine announced the benchmark that the state would use to lift health restrictions in place because of the pandemic.

“When Ohio gets down to 50 cases per 100,000 people for two weeks, all health orders will come off,” the governor said in a tweet. “Cases per 100,000 people for a two-week period is a standard measure we have used since early in the pandemic.”

“The end of our fight is now in view, but we must continue pressing forward in these final days,” he added. “We must not relent.”

The Ohio Department of Health has tracked nearly 985,000 total COVID-19 cases statewide as of Thursday, latest data show.
