Since Judah & The Lion released their third studio album, Pep Talks, in 2019, frontman Judah Akers has been focusing on his project Pink Laundry. Last week, he shared "Seasonal Depression," his first solo single of 2021.

“In a world that can feel very dark and hopeless, it’s important to talk about how s**t feels,” Akers explained in a statement. “In therapy, I sometimes hear 'it's just seasonal' and that response can feel so clinical. Writing this song helped me pinpoint where my depression was coming from - it's about understanding the darkness but wanting more. We are all on a shared journey to mental health (especially with Covid), and I wanted to remind everyone that it’s okay to dive into the sadness. But also - let’s f**king get up."

The project came to be when Akers started writing music that didn't make sense to release with the band. “I had this moment where I was making a lot of music that I loved but didn’t feel like it fit into the Judah & the Lion story,” he explained. “So instead of forcing something — I realized that I also just love bat s**t crazy electric rock music.”
