A woman walked barefoot and soaking wet for over four miles to call 911 for her boyfriend that disappeared into a creek in Oregon, according to KOMO.

Coos County Sheriff's deputies said 23-year-old Hailey Huckabee and 33-year-old Daniel Dyer were hiking on a trail near the state's coast until Daniel slipped on the rocks and fell into a creek. Huckabee tried helping Dyer out the water, but she ended up falling in herself, authorities added.

Dyer pushed Huckabee back towards the shore, and she was able to climb out the water, deputies said. But, she allegedly didn't see Dyer after she got out the water. Huckabee also lost her shoes in the water and ended up hiking four and a half miles barefoot to get enough cell service to call 911, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies said they responded to the area and found Hailey around 10:15 p.m. on March 7.

"Hailey was experiencing hypothermia and had several injuries to her feet. Hailey was tended to by medical staff and ultimately transported to the hospital," the sheriff's office said. "Deputies and members from Dora-Sitkum Fire and Myrtle Point Fire responded to the trail head to attempt to locate Daniel."

Rescue crews came out empty-handed the first few times they tried to locate Dyer near and in the creek. On Tuesday (March 9), divers from the Bandon Fire Dive Rescue Team were lowered into the creek using a rope system. Dyer's body was found dead in a deep pool of water near the top of a waterfall on the Doerner Fir Trail outside Myrtle Point, Oregon.
