Need a COVID-19 vaccine?

One of the vaccination sites in Pullman, at the neighborhood’s community center, aims to vaccinate 1,000 people — age 40 and up — on Tuesday (March 16). The site flooded with appointment bookings after residents got an automated call from their alderman directing them to online sign-ups, according to ABC 7 Chicago. It wasn’t immediately clear when the Pullman Community Center might have more appointment times available.

"We were trying to get this done last week," Alderman Anthony Beale explained to the station. "Trying to do a partnership with the city of Chicago to no avail…We started working the phones over the weekend and we had a conversation with Jewel Osco who stepped up to the plate and gave me 1,000 shots for today and I think it's only the beginning.”

The push to vaccinate 1,000 residents comes as Gov. J.B. Pritzker has apparently dropped hints at an upcoming announcement for a phased reopening plan coming for Illinois, ABC 7 Chicago reported.

Illinois Department of Public Health data show that the state has reported more than 1,200,000 total COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday, the latest data available. More than 19,200,000 tests have been administered. State data also show more than 4,100,000 total vaccine doses have been administered.
