Matthew McConaughey is speaking out against Governor Greg Abott's lift on Texas' mask mandate, reported Fox 4 News.
The actor was a guest on CBS This Morning, where he spoke on his latest efforts to help Texas residents impacted by the winter storm that swept the state last month,
McConaughey was asked about the Governor's decision to lift the mask mandate. He answered, "My reaction to that is, I was a little dumbfounded by the decision. I understand 'go back to work.' What I did not understand was 'pull the mask mandate.'"
McConaughey said that wearing a mask is only a "minor inconvenience" that helps to save lives. But, he stressed that maybe it isn't wearing the masks that people are having problems with.
McConaughey said:
"I just want to remind, not only Texans, but everybody out there, it's not the mask we're afraid of, c'mon. It's the word 'mandate.' Let's not let the word 'mandate' get in the way of practical use of this little tool called a mask. It's just a small inconvenience today for more freedom tomorrow."

The actor told people to really think about what it means to wear a mask, and urged people to continue wearing them until we are all out of the woods.
He said, "If you have the choice, keep masking up. It's proven to help. We don't have much longer in this we'll get through this. Thank you."
