A woman's SUV went up in flames after she just bought it with the money from her stimulus check in Yakima, Washington, according to KOMO.

Reporters said the woman was on her way home in her Jeep Grand Cherokee Wednesday evening (March 17) until she noticed smoke coming out the compartment. Yakima City firefighters responded to the car fire and was able to put out the flames, according to fire officials. The blaze did spread to the entire SUV, reporters learned.

Firefighters told KIMA the an electrical problem in the car caused the fire.

The driver reportedly got out the vehicle unharmed. She said she bought the older model Jeep for $1,200 the same day she received her $1,400 stimulus check. The new vehicle was meant to replace the sedan she currently owns because she doesn't have enough space for her dog, KOMO reported.

"The driver claimed she has made several calls and sent text messages to the person who sold the car, but has not received any response," reporters wrote.

Other tragedies have happened recently over the third round of federally-issued stimulus checks, such as a quadruple murder in Indiana.
