Britney Spears' latest Instagram post is making us feel a little nostalgic.
On Friday (March 19), the “I’m A Slave 4 U” singer took to social media with a precious throwback video her mother, Lynne, discovered from her earlier days as a performer.
In the clip, recorded during Britney’s 1998 concert in Singapore, the pop star — wearing a sleek black outfit — covers The Jets’ “You Got It All,” which would later appear on a special edition of her iconic 2000 album Oops!... I Did It Again.
“I, I was a game he would play / He brought the clouds to my day / Then like a ray of light / You came my way one night / Just one look and I knew / You would make everything clear / Make all the clouds disappear,” Britney belts over the smooth ‘80s groove.
“Geez … My mom sent this to me and reminded me that I can sing 🎶😂🙈🎤 !!!!” the 39-year-old gushed over the nostalgic clip. “She said ‘You never sing anymore … you need to again !!!!’ I’ve actually never watched this performance … it’s definitely from a while ago !!!! It’s from one of the first trips I took alone ... mostly I just remember saying ‘WOW Singapore’ 🇸🇬😍!!!!!”
Sadly, it may be a long time before the “Toxic” musician returns to the stage to bless our eyes and ears with another performance. As fans know, Britney has been embroiled in an ongoing legal battle with her father Jamie Spears over her controversial conservatorship.
In November 2020, her attorney Sam D. Ingham III revealed Britney is actually “afraid” of her father, who has been at the forefront of her conservatorship for years. “She also stated that she will not perform as long as her father is in charge of her career,” he added at the time.
