Country songbird Naomi Judd says her daughter, Ashley Judd, is still recovering following the life-threatening accident she suffered in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that landed her in the ICU.

As previously reported, the High Crimes actress, 52, almost lost her leg in a rainforest excursion after tripping and falling over a fallen tree, causing her to shatter her leg in four places, suffer nerve damage and internal bleeding. It took 55 hours before Ashley was rescued and transported from the DRC to a hospital in South Africa to be treated for her injuries.

In a recent interview appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Naomi said her daughter was scheduled to get her stitches taken out on Friday (March 19) following the scary incident. "It was very serious — she could've died," the "Young Love" singer, 75, told host Kelly Clarkson during Thursday's broadcast. "She's surviving. She's very courageous. She can't get out of bed [yet]."

After more than a month into her recovery, Naomi says she's been assuming nursing duties to care for her daughter, who lives nearby her home, as she continues to heal. "She lives next door, so I'm gonna go up and take her stitches out when we're done. I used to be a nurse before I became a singer,” said Naomi, who said it was “really hard to see” her daughter in such a painful condition.
