Heavy winds and thunderstorms caused significant damage in the Central Texas town of Betram on Monday night.
Historic buildings and local businesses were reduced to rubble after a possible tornado swept through the town about 40 miles northwest of Austin. One of the buildings damaged was the A.B. McGill & Co. General Store, which was built in 1905.
“Oh my god, what are we gonna do? It’s tough. COVID was tough, I mean, this is definitely going to be another hurdle to cross. Hopefully we’ll be able to do it. I built the business up from nothing," Bertram Blend and Boutique owner Amanda Powell told KXAN.
Betram volunteer firefighter Bobby Huffstffler shared a video on Facebook of the damage after the storm ended.

Photos shared by local media outlets also show buildings with their walls torn down and their roofs blown off.

No injuries have been reported as of Tuesday morning.
The National Weather Service will travel to Betram to determine if the damage was caused by a tornado or strong winds.
Monday's night storms have left the region, and weather in Central and South Texas will be mostly sunny and in the upper 70s for Tuesday, NWS reported.
