Comedian, actor, and viral sensation Leslie Jordan is adding musician to his resume.
The "vah-rul" sensation recently dropped in with Cody Alan to reveal details behind his newest all-star duets album, 'Company's Comin.' The project features powerhouse voices like Tanya Tucker, TJ Osborne (of Brothers Osborne), Dolly Parton, Ashley McBryde, and Chris and Morgan Stapleton.
During their conversation, Leslie shared a few spoilers behind how 'Company's Comin' came together.
"My dear friend Travis Howard and I used to go on his Instagram," revealed the actor. "He had a little show, a little podcast, a little something. His number went way up when we sang a little hymn!
"He grew up Pentecostal, very strict. I grew up in the Baptist church, which was not that strict. I mean, it was, but not like, compared to his," laughs Leslie. "So we revisited some of these hymns from when we were kids, and the response was overwhelming. So, we decided that we would do an album, and we put together a little wish list of who could sing with me."
"As the 'Rolling Stone' said, "Mr. Jordan's voice is capable." I love that! What's that mean?" jokes Leslie. "At least I am surrounding myself with people who can sing a little bit better than "capably," but I am capable, and I can keep up, and I was talking church, just singing for the lord. So, just sing out. Sing as loud as you want. All of a sudden, I have an album with everybody from Dolly to Chris and Morgane Stapleton. What a catch that was! It just came together!"
Hear the Emmy-winning actor croon with the stars on 'Company's Comin'' due April 2nd.
