Pittsburgh Steelers starting wide receiver Chase Claypool was involved in a late-night bar fight caught on camera in Southern California earlier this month.

TMZ reports Claypool attended the Wild Goose Tavern in Costa Mesa, California with friends on March 13 when the incident occurred. Sources told TMZ the incident stemmed from someone throwing dollar bills at a woman inside the bar, which led to an argument that eventually escalated to a fight outside the building.

Claypool is not believed to be an instigator in the fight, but jumped into the scuffle to help his friends, as shown in the video.

The 6-foot-4, 238-pound wide receiver was seen kicking one of the individuals who was wrestled to the ground in the face.

Claypool's friends removed him from the scuffle and he was told to stand back and keep his distance. TMZ reports both parties left the scene before the incident escalated further.

The Costa Mesa Police Department confirmed it received a call in relation to the fight, but all individuals involved had already left the scene when officers arrived. No charges have been filed in relation to the incident.

It has not been confirmed whether the individual who was kicked by Claypool will take legal action against the wide receiver as of Wednesday (March 24.) Sources close to Claypool told TMZ the 22-year-old was trying to protect his friend in a chaotic situation.

Claypool has not commented on the incident as of Wednesday morning.

The former Notre Dame standout enjoyed a stellar rookie campaign with the Steelers in 2020, recording 62 receptions for 873 yards and nine touchdowns, as well as two rushing touchdowns.
