Deputies in South Carolina came across an odd scene around in the early morning hours of Thursday (April 1) when they found a naked man strolling along the streets on Spartanburg.
According to responding officers, the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Michael Boatman, was discovered walking down New Cut Road around 1 a.m. holding a "blunt in his hand" and wearing only a "clear bag over his genitals." When confronted, he told officers he was doing a "walk of shame" to make up for cheating on his wife, according to the incident report recovered by The Smoking Gun.
According to WSPA, Boatman told deputies he needed to complete his walk, but they told him he had to stop. That's when he ran. They eventually caught up to him, grabbing his leg and knocking him to the ground where they were able to put him in handcuffs. He was arrested and taken to Spartanburg County Detention Center. As he was arrested, he allegedly told deputies he would escape from jail and asked one of the responding officers to shoot him, The Smoking Gun reports.
Following his "walk of shame," Boatman is now facing multiple charges including disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, indecent exposure, and resisting arrest.
