Denver city council voted to approve a bill that allows cannabis product delivery. The products would be delivered through third-party vendors.

Delivery drivers will have a limit on how much cash they can carry, will scan IDs upon delivery, and will be required to track GPS, according to CBS4.

The bill also approves the establishment of marijuana clubs which allows clubs to sell limited amounts of marijuana to eligible customers and the products can be consumed on the club's premises.

"This is potentially the most massive changes to marijuana rules and regulations since initial legalized sales began,” Eric Escudero, spokesman for the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses, told CBS4.

The bill also has criteria that are meant to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity at opening a business in Denver's booming marijuana industry.

According to CBS4, citywide cannabis sales in 2020 totaled over $700 million but surveys released by the Department of Excise and Licenses showed that Latino or Hispanic residents only make up around 12% of owners and employees and Black residents only make up about 6% of both categories.

Mayor Michael Hancock is scheduled to sign the bill into law on April 20, a famous holiday celebrated among people who enjoy marijuana.
