Three mass vaccination sites in Colorado are no longer requiring appointments, reports Rocky Mountain PBS.
The sites started accepting walk-in patients as of Wednesday, April 21.
Walk-ins are accepted at the following three locations:
- The Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo
- Open Monday — Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland
- Open Monday — Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- The Ball Arena in Denver
- Open Monday — Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
When Governor Jared Polis announced the change he explained appointments were previously required to ensure that older Coloradans received them first.
Now that over 27% of the state's population is vaccinated, which ranks it 29th in the country, Polis said that is no longer a concern and the state is doing everything they can to make the COVID-19 vaccine as accessible as possible.
Colorado is also ranked 14th in the country when it comes to vaccinating residents 65 and older.
Last month, Governor Polis announced that Coloradans ages 16 and up would be eligible to receive the vaccine.
However, Dr. Rachel Herlihy told Rocky Mountain PBS that Colorado's new COVID-19 case rate is as high as it's been since late January.
"Vaccination is going to be our ticket out of this pandemic," she said.
