The drained Folsom Lake was a sobering reminder of another dry season in California. But what has popped up in its place is a beautiful substitute.
People have been coming to see the super bloom of purple lupine that now covers the paths along the Folsom Lake in Granite Bay.
The area is usually covered in water, which is probably what caused the sea of wildflowers to grow over the area.
Visitors from all over have been coming to see the beautiful super bloom. The flowers also make the perfect backdrop for photographers.
"They're incredible," one photographer Mackenzie Ripple told CBS13. "They're so dense out. Honestly, I think this year is the densest for lupine."
A quick search location tag of Folsom Lake proves how many people have been inspired and in awe of the flowers.
While the flowers are beautiful, they also represent a dangerous warning of just how low lake levels have gotten in California.
The lupine super bloom is expected to only last a couple of weeks. It costs $12 to enter the Beeks Bight nature area.
