Two suspects rammed a U-Haul truck through the glass walls of an electric bike store in Denver, reports CBS4.

The business owner said the incident was an attempted "smash and grab."

The attempt happened in the early hours of Thursday, April 22, at eBikes USA in Cherry Creek near University Boulevard and 3rd Avenue.

"It will impact not just me as a business owner, it will also impact our customers. It will impact our employees. It even impacts our vendors that are supporting us,” the owner and president of eBikes USA, Houshmand Moarefi told CBS4.

He says the incident took place on Thursday at 4:40 A.M. and it was all caught on security cameras.

In the video, a U-Haul truck backs into the front of the store, shattering the glass. Then, two hooded people run into the store and attempt to steal the bikes.

However, they notice that the bikes are locked up and then they leave.

"They didn't get anything," said Moarefi. "I mean, clearly these are not the brightest people."

Although they weren't able to actually steal anything, they did manage to do a lot of damage to Moarefi's store.

"At this point, I estimate the damages will exceed $100,000 just in bicycles and the storefront, but obviously it’s too early on to tell what the real impact is," he said.

A report has been filed with Denver Police and Moarefi sent the security camera footage to U-Haul so they can investigate who was behind the wheel, reports CBS4.
