A man in Tennessee is facing criminal charges after reportedly doing donuts at multiple locations around Memphis last week, including at the scene of an active homicide investigation.
According to FOX 13 Memphis, 18-year-old Colby Pugh was arrested after driving recklessly on two separate occasions. The first incident occurred on Thursday (May 13) when a woman reported to police that a white Jeep drove into her yard and began doing donuts, spinning the car around and burning a tire pattern into the ground, causing hundreds of dollars in damage.
Several people were near the scene, including three children, who all had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit by the Jeep. The car hopped a curb and hit the woman, she told police, as it continued its dangerous maneuver. She was knocked down and sustained minor injuries to her right arm.
The second instance occurred just days later on Sunday (May 16) during an active police investigation. Memphis police records indicate that a black Jeep arrived at the scene as they were investigating a homicide and began doing donuts there as well. Police were then led on a pursuit by the driver, but they ultimately apprehended the suspect, identified as Pugh.
According to police records, Pugh said he had painted his white Jeep black in the hopes of avoiding recognition.
Pugh is facing several charges, including attempted second-degree murder, vandalism, and reckless endangerment.
