A young rapper in Louisiana was recently shot to death and police believe a rival rap group is responsible.

According to WWL, 19-year-old Michael Brock was a member of the "Three-13" rap group. Though a native of Kentwood, he had recently been hiding out with a relative of his girlfriend in Tangipahoa Parish after receiving death threats believed to come from a rival group in the parish area.

In the early hours of June 7, neighbors and witnesses at the residence reported hearing a knock on the door. Brock answered but was met with gunfire when the person on the other side began shooting with an AR-15 Assault Rifle, the news outlet reports. While other people inside the residence managed to avoid getting injured, including a 7-year-old child, Brock was fatally wounded. The shooter then fled the scene in a getaway car.

Police identified the shooter as 19-year-old Tauj Chardez Taplin and the driver as 19-year-old Quardavion Tyvon White, both associated with rap group "The Fours." According to police, White also has possible ties with a Chicago gang known as the "Gangsta Disciples."

In the days following the shooting, police in Louisiana and Texas were on the hunt for the two suspects. On June 10, a Houston deputy pulled over a vehicle believed to be the getaway car. A struggle ensued, and Taplin fled the scene while White was apprehended. Taplin led police on a high-speed pursuit before eventually being captured by Louisiana State Police near Lake Charles.

Both Taplin and White will face multiple charges stemming from Brock's shooting as well as the struggle and pursuit with the officer in Texas.
