The Strawberry Moon is making an appearance over Colorado this week.
This will be the first full moon of the astronomical summer and the last supermoon of the year 2021, reports FOX31.
For residents in the Denver metro area, the Strawberry Moon is set to rise approximately at 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 24, and will set at 6:15 A.M. on Friday, June 25, according to Timeanddate.com.
While the moon will peak on Thursday, it will still look full on Wednesday and Friday as well, reports FOX31.
Wednesday and Thursday will probably be the best chance to catch a glimpse of the Strawberry Moon because the forecast predicts it will be too cloudy and wet to see it on Friday.
Despite its name, skywatchers can expect to see a large, golden moon instead of a red or pink moon.
The fourth and final supermoon of 2021 is called the Strawberry Moon because strawberries are ready to be picked at this time of year. Other names for this supermoon include the Blooming Moon, Berries Ripen Moon, and Green Corn Moon.
While people in the United States won't be able to see it, the moon will hit peak illumination at 12:40 P.M. on Thursday, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac.
