Coloradans have been encountering more bears lately.

One bear was found looking for a meal inside a Boulder County home on Thursday, July 1, according to CBS4.

The bear was spotted by neighbors in the Gunbarrel community. They said the bear had been snacking around their homes all morning.

“He came through my yard twice today. This morning I looked out the window and saw him raiding the bird food feeder. He returned this afternoon to top off his stomach I guess,” one neighbor Janice Coen told CBS4.

Another neighbor Ken Thomas said this was the first time he had seen a bear in the 43 years he's living in the neighborhood.

The bear entered the Petursdale Court home through an open window. According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), the bear then proceeded to devour cat food found in the home before exiting the same way he came in.

No one was injured even though residents were home at the time.

“You hear about that a lot more in mountain towns where many homes or cabins don’t have air conditioning,” Jason Clay with CPW told CBS4. “Bears can go through windows very easily. Bears can open your front door easily depending on what type of door handle you have.”

According to CBS4, the bear last seen around Gunbarrel has not been captured.
