Population growth in America has seen significant changes over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 U.S. Census found that the population growth rate in America hit its lowest level since the Great Depression.

However, in almost every state there is at least one major metro area that reported a faster population growth rate.

There were 11 states where not a single metro area reported population growth, but Colorado was not one of them.

In order to determine the fastest growing city in every state, 24/7 Wall St. analyzed population data from the U.S. Census Bureau's Population and Housing Estimates Program.

So which Colorado city is growing the fastest?

Despite being the butt of many jokes, the data shows the fastest growing city in Colorado is the Greeley metro area.

Its population grew by 32.1% from 2010 to 2020 to 333,983 residents, reports Patch.

In the same time frame, the population of Colorado grew by 15.5% and the population in the U.S. increased by 6.7%.

The population increase is prompted by increasing economic opportunities in the area. The Greeley metro area has a median annual household income of $78,615, which is above Colorado's median of $77,127.
