Red Rocks Amphitheatre is getting some serious upgrades, reports CBS4.
A new roof has been installed over the stage, giving it a larger capacity for sound and lighting equipment.
The original roof was installed in 1988 and had outlived its life expectancy, according to CBS4.
The new roof that replaced it provides more protection from weather and can hold more weight for lighting and other equipment.
According to CBS4, it will also be safer for the musicians and performers underneath it.
The updated roof was funded through "Elevate Denver," which is a 10-year bond program to enhance the city's infrastructure.
Red Rocks posted about the new roof on their Facebook page writing:
"What has 84 rolling spanner beams, a ceiling made of clear vertical grain Douglas fir and can suspend the weight of 15 elephants? It’s our new stage roof, which was completed this year ahead of our 80th anniversary season! Providing greater coverage and protection than the old roof while allowing for modern-day productions to truly shine, learn more about the unique features and capabilities of the new stage roof from Venue Director Tad Bowman in this short feature."
