Atlanta Declared The Most Pet-Friendly City In Georgia

People often treat their pets as part of the family, even dubbing them “fur children” or “fur babies” as an affectionate nickname.

That’s why “the nearly 85 million households in the U.S. that own pets want to live places where their beloved companions can enjoy long, healthy lives without breaking the bank.” So, WalletHub researchers rolled up their sleeves and got to work.

WalletHub, a personal finance site, sought the most pet-friendly cities in the U.S. and shared its findings Tuesday (August 10).

The report notes that there are tons of new ways to provide for your beloved pets, including with monthly subscription boxes and other pet-focused businesses. But adopting a “fur baby” isn’t without its expenses. Grooming, veterinary care — pet fees, for renters — and more can add up.

WalletHub reads:

“With animal parents in mind, WalletHub compared the pet-friendliness of the 100 largest U.S. cities across 23 key metrics. Our data set ranges from minimum pet-care provider rate per visit to pet businesses per capita to walkability.”

Only one city from the Peach State made the rankings, making Atlanta the best city in Georgia to have a pet. Atlanta comes in at No. 12.
