Tucson Man Sentenced For Stealing Rings From MLB Manager And Selling Them

A Tucson man was sentenced after stealing some rings from MLB manager Terry Francoma and then selling them, reported AZ Family. 35-year-old Jamey Estep was sentenced on Friday by a judge to five years in prison for trafficking the rings. That sentence came as a part of a plea deal.

Francoma returned from managing the Cleveland Indians back in 2019 to find that his 2004 and 2007 World Series rings from the Boston Red Sox weren't there. In addition, he was missing three MLB All-Star rings and his college Hall of Fame ring.

Pima County Sheriff's Department detectives tracked down the World Series rings to a memorabilia collector in the Valley. That collector was trying to sell them as well. The rings were then traced back to Estep.

Estep originally claimed he never had the rings. He then told police he bought them from a friend for $400. Estep worked with police to find the Francoma's Hall of Fame ring, but the MLB All-Star rings haven't yet been located.

Francoma played college baseball at the University of Arizona. The wildcats won the College World Series in 1980. He went on to manage the Boston Red Sox when they received two world titles. He's been with Cleveland since 2013.
