Weather is always a topic of discussion, whether people are discussing the extreme heat, the drought, or the severe weather that's rolling in.
Did you know that there are about 100,000 thunderstorms each year in America? One in 10 of those storms are considered severe.
Oklahoma is notorious for its severe weather. Unlike in other states, Sooners get to experience all four seasons, but Oklahoma is best known for its thunderstorms and tornado season.
So, which part of Oklahoma has the worst weather? Stacker conducted a study to find out which counties in each state have the most severe weather.
According to the study, Tulsa County has the most severe weather in Oklahoma.
Tulsa County had 490 severe weather events from 2010 to 2020, with the most common being thunderstorms, hail storms, and flash flooding.
Here's what else Stacker had to say:
Tulsa County is often slammed by tornadoes, especially in April and May. In 2020, 10 twisters were reported in the county in the month of May alone. In the Tulsa National Weather Service forecast area, which includes 25 counties in Oklahoma and seven in Arkansas, nearly 1,400 tornadoes were documented from 1950 to 2019.
Don't mess with Mother Nature.
