Intense Video Shows Flooding That Caused Some Utah Nat'l Park Closures

Some parts of Utah national parks were closed on Thursday (August 19th) due to major flooding, reported Fox 13 Salt Lake City. Two days of rain caused some intense floodwaters to rip through the parks.
All slot canyons as well as Kolob Canyon Road in Zion National Park were closed. In addition, a scenic road in Capitol Reef National Park was closed as well.
Zion National Park wrote on Twitter that Kolob Canyons road was closed because of some mud slides and rock slides caused by the rain. According to the tweet, the Virgin River swelled up more than 150 cubic feet per second.
Fox 13 Salt Lake City posted a video fo some of the flooding that a viewer sent in and it's pretty terrifying. The video shows rising flood water rushing quickly beneath a bridge.

Capitol Reef National Park wrote on Twitter that the Scenic Drive closed on Thursday due to impassable mud that stretched across the road.

There is currently no word on when the parts of the national parks will open back up to the public.
