Cleveland-area renters are no strangers to skyrocketing rates across the country, and some of them are experiencing the surge more than others.
The U.S. Census Bureau established a Household Pulse Survey last year, aiming to examine the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on people, including paying rent. That’s why Stacker, a data journalism hub, compiled Zillow data and listed the Top 8 zip codes with the most expensive rent in the Cleveland area. Stacker reads:
“…the pandemic has created a ‘seesaw effect’ on rent, with rental rates in the most expensive U.S. cities dropping while rental rates have gone up in historically less expensive areas.”
Separately, WalletHub, a personal finance site, ranked the Best & Worst Places to Rent in America in 2021 to help you get “the most bang for your buck.” Findings, published July 21, show that Cincinnati was the highest-ranked Ohio city on the list at No. 78, and Cleveland was the lowest-ranked at No. 177. The list includes 182 major cities across the U.S.
These are the areas of Northeast Ohio paying the most in rent, according to Stacker’s analysis:
- 44122 (Beachwood)
- 44124 (Cleveland)
- 44118 (Cleveland)
- 44107 (Lakewood)
- 44134 (Cleveland)
- 44102 (Cleveland)
- 44035 (Elyria)
- 44052 (Lorain)
